Santina Lizzio

SantinaSantina Lizzio has resided in Mena Creek since her birth. She completed her primary education at the Mena Creek State School and her secondary education at Mt St Bernard’s College, Herberton. Her passion for writing commenced during her childhood. She has successfully published five historical books featuring the local area, two poetry books, two reflective verse books and two children’s books. Santina has enjoyed the success of her books selling throughout Australia and overseas. She enjoys gardening, antique furniture, collectables and bush-walking.

(Dedicated to the pioneers of yesterday, today and tomorrow)
Size – A4 – coffee table book – soft cover – 160 pages – 32 pages of which are coloured photos (many aerial), of the township before and after Cyclone Larry – filled with black and white photos throughout the rest of the book. It is the story of the township from its beginnings in the 1900’s through to the present day. It features many personal recounts from old locals. It covers the triumphs and tragedies of the people who once lived in this township.

 

CROSSING THE BRIDGECROSSING THE BRIDGE – stories from the Johnstone Shire 1880 to 2008 – published 2009
($35 + postage) Size – A4 – coffee table book – soft cover – 288 pages. Black and white photos are extensively featured throughout the book. Contains maps and history of early cemetery by Dr Diane Menghetti. Stories have been contributed by respective family members about their loved ones who once lived in the shire. These stories enable the reader to gleam the history of the shire from its humble beginnings.

 

THREE LIVES LOSTTHREE LIVES LOST – (commemorates the 50th anniversary of the dredge “Mourilyan” which sank at Mourilyan Harbour on Tuesday, 1st September, 1959) – published 2009 – ($10+ postage).  A5 book – 32 pages – black and white photos. In loving memory of Thomas McIlwrath, Edwin Norris and Sydney College who lost their lives during the sinking. Covers a brief history of Mourilyan Harbour and extensively details personal recollections of the sinking.

 

WALK A MILEWALK A MILE IN OUR SHOES (Dedicated to all animals for their friendship, love, service and ultimate sacrifice to mankind) – published 2011 – A5 book – 144 pages.  ($20 + postage). A very well researched account of the role animals of all varieties have played in our lives, in both practical and emotional ways and the inevitable merging of those ways. Illustrated throughout with black and white photos. Original art work on cover and throughout the book is by local artist, Lou Micallef.
